There are more and more blogs and articles popping up all the time about how to deal with life at every stage of the divorce and separation process. On one hand, it can easily become information overload, and on the other, you feel like you have read the same exact information about 20 times.
When our team first started brainstorming about possible names for our products (still to come – stay tuned!) we may have gotten a little punchy after a long day of throwing ideas around. That’s when Robin Young, our COO, came up with “Splitsville”. After we came down from our over-caffeinated and loopy hysteria, we checked to see if Splitsville already existed and it turns out that it does.
Splitsville.com is a place that looks at the end of a relationship with a refreshing touch of humor. Their landing page proclaims:
Splitting up? Congratulations! Splitsville is a social utility where you’ll connect with others, swap stories, get ideas, solutions and much more. Your new life starts here.
With the number of marriages ending these days, the social stigma of divorce and separation just can’t survive. Splitsville is helping out with that. When you first get to their landing page, you will see a big, fat “Congratulations!” because as they say, “It’s over. You’re not.” Their anonymous forum is a place for you to commiserate with others, bitch about your ex, and ask people for advice based on their own experiences.
They have also curated articles from around the web designed to give readers a positive look towards the future – whatever that ends up being, as well as creating their own content. The blog-like posts can be easily found in their Articles section categorized into sections from Dating and Divorce, to Style and Travel.
So if you want to find some really helpful information, while feeling supported by a community of people who are feeling the same way you are, head on over to Splitsville.
